Toon Ultra wrote:Toon Ultras have been going for a few years now. We started as a bunch of fans who joined up for cup matches to bring more passion to them as they used to be quite a boring affair. We've gradually improved. But our progress has been quite slow and because of this we have recieved a lot of criticism (most of it was deserved to be fair).
Last season was our best by far. We've now established ourselves as a group, and become well known to our fans. We've only got 2 banners, but next season we're hoping to build on this years sucess.
We managed a few displays this season, nothing worth mentioning, just the odd few baloons etc. Hopefully next season we can get ourselves into gear and lead the way for Ultras in the English Premier League.
Most of our activity can be seen in
this video.
This is our area and our 2 banners:

We also managed to get a surfer sorted. It's an old one back from when Newcastle first got promoted into the premiership. It was took to watford away - our last game of the season. It proved a great sucess so hopefully we'll be making some surfers of our own next season.

Our best display was probably Alkmaar in the UEFA cup.

There was around 15 flags, there would have been more but they got took off us. The pictures dont do us justice, believe me, it looked alot more better than it does in those pics. And the best flag we had - a tifo one, which was 6 foot tall and 5 foot wide got took off us straight away. The stewards said they would take all our flags if we didnt give them over. But the match kicked off and there was about 15 being waved and the stewards did nothing. It was still very annoying though, they said it's health and safety. Yet they allowed the Alkmaar fans in the away end to wave flags. It just doesnt make sence. One steward snapped a few peoples sticks when they came in, which was also highly annoying. Thats the problem we have, we're not even alowed small flags, but I suppose we just have to continue hiding them untill kick off.
The atmosphere was great, and we even got a mention in the Newcastle Chronicle (
Click to see) which was great.
Hopefully everyone will be seeing more of us next season

Cheers for reading.
