it seems most of you wear club jerseys, if you want to look just like continental ultras, try producing some apparel of your group - polos, tees, caps...
but main thing is the passion and obviously you have it so keep it up and keep it ultra'

Many of the main guys wear retro shirts from the 80's. We are not against people wearing the club jersey in general, it helps the club out, however our first point of care is the team and our history. We have our own scarfs and our own pin badges and a hoodie. Caps won't go down well though I don't think.

Not sure if we 'want' to look like continental ultras, we can be inspired by them no doubt, they lead the way... but we want to be original.

Here is the scarf! £10 each... kept the design simple to keep costs low. Bar scarfs seem pretty popular so we went with that design. Might come up with a more 'out there' design at some point though, who knows.

Hello There 'WiganRL-Brigantes',

It's intresting to see ultras and tifo is in England at some clubs.

I asume you're from Wigan Athletic, can you give some information about your group Brigantes?
Like numbers, pictures of actions, logo, merchandise, goals etc.

I look forward to you're reply.

Cheers.

Hey there WiganRL-Brigantes ,
Please stop posting the same message over and over again, that's just spamming and we don't care much about spammers on this forum.

Now....please tell me, why do you guys hate the football club of your own town? Any particular reason?
And i'm interested in knowing the mentality that drives your group.
I'm asking this because i remember a guy from England ( i do belive he was from Crystal Palace ) once said on an other forum " We , in England, are the future of ultras , because the laws are allready tough here and we know what we can get away with" . In my opinion an ultras shouldn't think like that , he should fight for the thing he likes to do, the way he likes to do them.

p.s. I actually like the fact you guys are wearing old-school jerseys ( i have a big passion for old school football and rugby jerseys ) of your club , i think it's a very cool thing and you guys don't have to comform to the "continental ultras" way. The "group apparel" thing has been done to death ,so it's really refreshing to see some originality .

Cheers !

Ok sorry about that. Just trying to spread the word! No worries.

The story about us and the football club is a long one so I will give you the simple version.
Rugby league is the main sport in the town and football has always been very small. The rugby club and the council once tried to shut down the football club so they hated us for that and also the fact we were bigger and more succesful...
Over the last 10 years they got the premiership and we had a rough spell, the rivalry grew as their fans waited on the bridge outside the stadium mocking us etc.
Dave Whelen invested in both clubs and put us in the same stadium... he ended up chucking us out for one game because the football was on, he favours them....
We are now champions again and they will no doubt be relegated soon with the lack of cash... they spray painted our signs around the town etc.

Well... what a joke that guy is... England is not the future of ultras. Had this been before hillsborough then I might have agreed. With the passionate fans and big terraces then maybe it would have taken off big time.... but the english football game is now far too commercialised IMO. That is part of the reason I follow rugby.

I think ultras did used to exist in England but in a different form... the stretford end and the kop were the english ultras... they hardly exist anymore. English support is just not the same.

In rugby we still have old terracing which makes the atmosphere so much better.

The restrictions are much much tougher over here, I think you would have to come over to see just how tough it is. We want a GOOD relationship with our club but we DO our own thing.... BUT if we set a smoke off at a home game... (not joking here) the stadium manager would stop the match and evacuate the stadium... is that the best thing for our players? NO. In England it is more about taking baby steps towards the goal rather than just doing what we want and getting banned, believe me, we would get banned. We do plan to do some continental style displays at smaller reserves games and under 19's matches though.

As for the old school jerseys... This was us at wembley on saturday...

Image

Me on the right in my 1985 shirt... we wore that shirt in that year when we won the cup final at wembley. We went on to win 8 in a row... it is known as our second home...

One of the 8 in a row was in 1989 we beat our biggest rivals 27-0... this is the blue shirt my mate is wearing...

We definantly respect the continental style, they lead the way but we DO NOT want to lose originality or the links to our town. If you look through our flags you will find loads of links to the town and its culture...

Cheers

Not that I know of.

Rugby fans don't fight. The passion goes into the game and the singing.

My comment about guys who go to the football to fight etc. - grow up, you are not children.
