In November 2003, to celebrate UEFA's Jubilee, he was selected as the Golden Player of Bulgaria by the Bulgarian Football Union as their most outstanding player of the past 50 years.
Petar Zhekov - the only Eropean with Golden, Silver and Bronze Boot
He played 184 games for CSKA between 1968-1975 and scored 144 league goals for the club and it's still club's record. He is the record goalscorer of the Bulgarian Championship with 253 goals in 333 matches (with CSKA and Beroe). Zhekov is the best league scorer in 5 seasons. He won 5 Bulgarian Championships and 4 National Cups with CSKA. In the European Champions Cup, Zhekov played 14 games and scored 7 goals, in the Cup Winners' Cup he has 2 goals in 5 matches. For the National team he scored 25 goals in 44 games.
In 1969 he won the Golden Boot (36 goals). In 1970 he won the Silver Boot (31 goals). In 1973 he won the Bronze Boot (29 goals). He is the only European footballer with these 3 prizes.
He is dubbed "The best Bulgarian striker ever"!!!
Luboslav Penev
Lubo Penev is a produst of the youth academy of CSKA. He made his debut for the first team in 1984 and played for the club until 1989. He won the Bulgarian League twice ('87 and '89) and the Bulgarian Cup thrice ('87, '88, '89). In 1988 he was voted Bulgarian Footballer of the Year.
In the summer of 1989 he was transferred to Spanish club Valencia. In Spain Lubo Penev played also for Atletico de Madrid, SD Compostela and Celta de Vigo. With Atletico he won the Spanish League and the Copa del Rey in 1996, scoring 22 goals in 44 appearances that season. In the Spanish League and Cup Penev scored 20 goals against Real Madrid, including 3 hattricks!
For the Bulgarian National team Penev played 62 games. In the legendary game against France at the "Parc des Princes" he gave a marvelous pass to Kostadinov, who scored in the last minute to send the team to the '94 World Cup. Unfortunatly, Penev had cancer and was not able to play that summer. He represented Bulgaria in Euro'96 in England and WC'98 in France.

Emil Kostadinov
Emil Kostadinov, like Penev, is a product of the academy of CSKA and also debuted as professional in 1984. He played in Bulgaria until 1990. With CSKA he won 3 Bulgarian Leagues and 3 Bulgarian Cups.
In 1990 he was transferred to FC Porto and played for the until 1994, winning the Portuguese league twice. After WC'94 he went to Deportivo La Coruna. Six months later Bayern Munich bought Kostadinov and with them he won the UEFA Cup, scoring in the Final.
For CSKA Kostadinov played 135 league games, scoring 43 goals, and 21 international matces, scoring 8 goals.
For Porto he played 114 games and scored 44 goals.
For Bayern Emo made 27 appearances and scored 7 goals.
For Bulgaria he won 70 caps and scored 26 goals.
Now he is Director of Football in FC CSKA.
